 We're meeting before at e Tutté Qua (see below)--one of the best Italian restaurants in the City--at 6:30 p.m. We go next door to Pearl's at 7:45 p.m. Show at 8:00 p.m.

~~~~~~~Good news! Pearl's isn't closing after all. Owner Kim Nalley has been rescued by some jazz lovers who agreed to pick up the rent.~~~~~~~~~~
Swinging singer Jonathan Poretz's new CD, A Lot of Livin' to Do, is a celebration of the style and spirit of Frank Sinatra and the grand Rat Pack days, but one of the great strengths of Poretz as an artist is his ability to so ably take that spirit and make it his own.
Here are the cuts which he'll be reprising that night:
1. A Lot of Livin' To Do
 2. My Time Of Day / I've Never Been In Love Before
 3. Then I'll Be Tired Of You
 4. Come Rain Or Come Shine
 5. How Insensitive
 6. I'll Remember April
 7. It Never Entered My Mind
 8. This Time The Dream's On Me
 9. On The Street Where You Live
10. I See Your Face Before Me
11. Just One Of Those Things
As Dan McClenaghan of All About Jazz said in his review of Poretz's new CD, "With a delivery that is closer to that of another Sinatra-influenced singer, Bobby Darin, Poretz comes across silky, swinging and cool as hell, sort of a cross between Darin and Mel Torme."
Backing Poretz at his Pearl's performance will be a great band featuring Noel Jewkes on sax, Lee Bloom on piano, Jeff Neighbor on bass and Vince Lateano on drums.
"Man, can this guy Poretz scat, loose and insouciant--a bit of a lost art, it sometimes seems, in the male vocalist field." - Dan McClenaghan, All About Jazz
Jonathan Poretz has always been comfortable performing his own special stylings of the great American jazz standards. Poretz brings an electric energy to any stage he's on, a talent he's been cultivating since his early teens, when he sang professionally in bands that featured jazz greats like Charlie Shavers, Chuck Wayne and Joe Puma in his home town of New York City.
       A delightful group. We enjoyed a tasty Italian dinner and a decent show from Jonatha who Grace pointed out started losing his umph as his cold got the better of him. The backup band was superb which compensated for the singer having to shepard his voice. We should do more at Pearl's.
       Too bad he was losing his voice. I thought he gave a great performance anyway - just wish it could have been a little longer. I would definitely go hear him again.
