FYI--I have been getting some really great recipes in from our International Market owners for the Get Cookin' market tour and taste event this Saturday, Sept 26, from 12-noon to 4... p.m. Sathvik Foods at 2720 So Havana shared a traditional recipe from India called Ramja Masala. Ifka Cafe at 1535 S Havana #M will be serving samples of Somali Sambusa and sharing a recipe. Aladdin's Market at 10315 E Iliff shared their family recipe for Fava Beans--a traditional Middle Eastern dinner. M-Mart at 2000 S Havana is cooking up Bulgogi and sushi, cookies and tea for tasting and will be sharing an easy Bulgogi recipe. Tana Grocery's owner is also an Ethiopian caterer and will be making her special Doro Wat for all to taste (sharing the recipe, too), as well as performing an Ethiopian coffee ceremony around 1 p.m. (address 2222 S Havana #C-1). I just received several recipes from Tata at Ibiza African Market, including Jollof rice from Mali, Senegalese chicken with onions and lemon (Poulet Yassa), Ginger beer, and Mafe (West African meat in peanut sauce). Tata teaches cooking classes and will be fixing several of the dishes for you to sample. The English Tea Cup is serving Shepherd's pie, a special chicken noodle soup and tea and crumpets. Annette will be sharing her soup recipe and others from England. You won't want to miss the Lebanese pastries and food at Amira at 10375 E Iliff. They are sharing a recipe for Baklawa (Lebanese Baklava). Go to the upcoming events page at www.OnHavanaStreet.com for a flyer and map of the markets. This should be a fun, delicious event.Read More
